What you are actually preparing for.
Sailing asks you to watch several things at once — hazards, cargo, heading and turning room — which is why plugin questions come up faster here than in older content.
Ports, sea routes and ship equipment are the usual starting points. Pick one, then prepare the equipment, supplies and travel it needs.
Settle these first.
- Update your client so current Sailing interfaces are recognised
- Set keybinds while docked, not underway
- Plan the route before you leave port
The plugin types that apply here.
Hazard and charting markers. Marking rapids, charting points and interactables while steering is the change you notice on the first voyage.
Cargo and delivery tracking. Fine in your head with one task, unmanageable with three.
Turning circle indicators. Seeing your radius tells you whether a gap is passable before you are committed to it.
The mistake to avoid.
Enable one overlay at a time. Sailing is the easiest content in the game to bury under information you never read.
Before you install anything.
Read each plugin's current feature list rather than its category name, and start with the information you actually need for the session. Check compatibility after client or game updates, and disable a plugin that behaves unexpectedly.
These are activity categories, not a promise that every example has a matching RLPlugins release. The public matches below use catalogue descriptions and tags.
